Flower Care & Delivery Guide

Your guide to getting the best from your bouquet.

What to expect on arrival

Caring for your bouquet from the moment it arrives

Thank you for your order. Each bouquet is carefully arranged and packed by hand using premium fresh flowers. We use a trusted courier service to deliver safely across the UK, and we do everything possible to ensure your blooms arrive in the best possible condition. Because flowers are a natural product and are sent through trusted courier partners, there are a few important things to know when your delivery arrives.

Some flowers may look tired or soft at first

It’s completely normal for some blooms to appear a little limp or soft straight out of the box. This can happen during transit, especially in warm or cold weather. Your flowers have just spent several hours in a box without water and simply need a drink. Once trimmed and placed in fresh water, most stems will perk up within a few hours. Some varieties, like roses or delphiniums, may take a little longer.

Minor creasing or bruising is natural

Even with careful packaging, some delicate flowers may show signs of creasing or light bruising — particularly softer varieties like lisianthus, delphinium, or matthiola. This is cosmetic only and doesn’t affect the vase life or beauty of the bouquet once arranged.

“Guard petals” on roses are intentional

Roses often arrive with a few outer petals that appear dull, brownish, or damaged. These are called guard petals and are intentionally left on to protect the rose head during transit. Simply remove them once the bouquet is unwrapped to reveal the fresher petals underneath. They will drop off naturally after 1–2 days otherwise.

Some flowers may arrive in bud

We often send flowers like lilies, alstroemeria, and certain roses in bud form to ensure maximum freshness and vase life. These will naturally open over the next 1–2 days, giving you longer enjoyment from your bouquet.

Your bouquet may not look exactly like the website photo at first

Our product photos are taken under ideal studio lighting, using fully opened, freshly arranged bouquets. Your flowers are securely packed to protect them during their journey, and may shift slightly in the box or appear more compact on arrival. Once cut, placed in water and given time to breathe, they will open and relax into their intended shape within a few hours.

Not all flowers are scented

While some blooms such as lilies or stocks are naturally fragrant, many popular flowers are chosen for their colour, texture, and vase life rather than scent. A lack of fragrance is not a fault — it’s simply the nature of the bloom.

Bouquets may vary slightly from the photo

From time to time, we may need to make subtle changes to your bouquet due to seasonal availability or to maintain quality. Any substitutions will always be of equal or higher value and in keeping with the overall colour scheme and design.

Flower lifespan varies by variety

Some stems, like alstroemeria and carnations, are known to last 7–10 days, while more delicate flowers such as roses, delphiniums, or germini may naturally have shorter vase life. Mixed bouquets are designed for visual balance, but individual stems may age at different rates.

How to bring your flowers to life

Simple steps for longer‑lasting blooms

  1. Unwrap the bouquet fully and remove all outer packaging and water wraps.
  2. Fill a clean vase with lukewarm water and add the flower food provided.
  3. Trim 1–2 cm off the bottom of each stem at a sharp angle.
  4. Remove any leaves that will sit below the waterline.
  5. Place the flowers in the vase and display them in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, radiators, or draughts.
  6. Change the water every 2 days and re‑trim stems for best results.

Good to know: Most flowers will revive and start to open fully within 4–8 hours.
